What is Reconciliation?

Our covenant with God calls us to love God with all our being and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Sin is a failure to love ourselves, others and God as we ought to. As sinners, we recognize our human limitations and God's limitless love for us.
Reconciliation is the Sacrament by which we are reconciled to God and his Church by the forgiveness of our Sin.
Reconciliation:- goes by many names such as the sacrament of Confession, Penance, Conversion, Forgiveness or Reconciliation.
- is completely private. The priest cannot tell anyone what you confesses to God through him in the Sacrament.
- is necessary for us to live out our Catholic faith and follow God.
- makes the gift of God's forgiveness a transforming reality in our lives.
- restores us to a state of grace.
"Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offenses commited against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled, with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion."

Receiving Reconciliation

First ReconciliationAs part of our family faith formation program, second graders prepare for reconciliation and go their first time.

Returning to ReconciliationIf you have not been to reconciliation in a while and desire to return, the Lord rejoices! It can often be hard to go after a significant portion of time, but know that their is great joy in the kingdom of God over one sinner who repents.
You can use the information on this page to help you prepare to return and then simply come at any of the normally scheduled confession times. Or you might want to set up a meeting with one of our parish priests who can help you prepare for this great sacrament.
